MIT China SA+P China Tour(Hangzhou)--Successful Hosting of China-U.S. Design and City Planning Seminar

On January 9th,2019, MIT China SA+P Chinese Tour- China-U.S. Design and City Planning Seminar was successfully organized in the Dream Town of Yuhang district of Hangzhou city, which was attended by leaders including Ms. XU Lingdi(Deputy District Chief), Ms. LI Ying (Founder of MIT Alumni in Zhejiang), CAI Liang (Vice Dean of College of Software Technology) and enterprise representatives from MIT Alumni including SenseTime,G5 Community, Zhejiang Hainiu Environmental Technology as well as graduate students from MIT, along with graduate students from Senseable City Lab, Real Estate Innovation Lab, Civic Data Design Lab and Media Lab. The seminar was hosted by Mr. ZHOU Junjian(co-founder of the MIT Alumni Association in Zhejiang).

The Vice District Chief XU Lingdi addressed on behalf of the Yuhang District Government to welcome the students from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and introduced the development status of Yuhang district.

The chairperson, LI Ying addressed on behalf of the alumnus of MIT to welcome the junior fellow students and shared her thoughts along with her firm belief that this China tour would surely be a rewarding tour for them.

The director XU Laiying introduced on behalf of the managing board of the Zhejiang Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City about policies to attract overseas high-level talents for starting their own businesses or employment and encouraged MIT graduate students to start their businesses or find jobs in the Zhejiang Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City.

The Vice Dean CAI Liang extended his warm welcome to MIT students on behalf of the College of Software Technology and introduced the 2019 ZIERIP project to them for their active participation in this project. Besides, He indicated that participation in the ZIERIP project would enable students from MIT to experience the Chinese culture, exchange updated campus technology, and practice internship at top companies in China such as Alibaba in their summer breaks so that they can study, work and live under a different cultural background. What’s more, He believed that the 2019 summer tour to China would definitely be a valuable memory for MIT students. 

Every graduate student from MIT introduced their own study experience, their current majors and research orientations with emphases on their scientific research project experience and some cutting-edge issues under their concern.

During the Q&A session, alumnus from MIT and graduate students from MIT all participated in enthusiastic discussions with experts regarding their respective concerns.
