On the morning of October 29, “Joint Innovation Laboratory of Zhejiang University and China Mobile Online Service” (hereinafter referred to as “Joint Innovation Laboratory”) was officially established and inaugurated! The opening ceremony was attended by the following professors: Chen Chun, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the professor in Zhejiang University; Li Kang, the director and deputy general manager of China Mobile Online Service; Shi Hongbing, the Vice Dean in School of Scientific Research of Zhejiang University; Cai Liang, the Vice Dean in College of Software Technology of Zhejiang University and some other professors. The opening ceremony was presided over by Liu Dongzhen, the director in College of Software Technology of Zhejiang University.

    At the meeting, Vice Dean Cai Liang delivered a speech. On behalf of College of Software Technology of Zhejiang University, he welcomed all the leaders and guests attending the opening ceremony. At first, Cai Liang spoke highly of China mobile online service as an “online service expert with customer satisfaction and social trust”, which has provided high quality hotline and internet services to 900 million users. Then, he introduced the achievements of College of Software Technology of Zhejiang University in the field of personnel training and scientific research. Based on the principle of “complementary advantages and cooperative innovation”, China mobile online service and Zhejiang University signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement, which the both sides can benefit from the advantages of research, development and engineering practice, close integration of industry, education and research, and joint acceleration of technical research and application practice in cloud computing, edge computing and some other areas.

    Li Kang, the director and deputy general manager of China mobile online service Co., Ltd., said in his speech that “China mobile online service and Zhejiang University have reached a broad consensus through many rounds of deep communication, and build ‘joint innovation laboratory of Zhejiang University and China mobile online service’. In the future, the laboratory will cooperate in areas such as container cloud and microservice, and further it will explore the cooperation in areas such as edge computing, big data, blockchain, and so on. Through the joint innovation, the lab will promote the landing of technological breakthroughs based on actual scenes and set a standard for the industry.”

    Shi Hongbing, the Vice Dean in school of scientific research of Zhejiang University, affirmed the value of the joint innovation laboratory. Shi said “the establishment of the joint innovation laboratory marks a substantial step in the cooperation and joint innovation between Zhejiang University and China mobile online service” Also, he said “The innovation is the trend of the current era and the eternal theme of cooperation between universities and enterprises. And, the joint innovation and cooperation between universities and enterprises is oriental to the demands and innovation of enterprises, and the scientific research of colleges and universities, which transforms the achievements of scientific researches into innovative technologies and serve enterprises.”

    On behalf of Zhejiang University, Dean Shi announced the establishment of the joint laboratory and appointed Vice Dean Cai Liang and the deputy manager Li Kang as the chairman of the joint laboratory management committee. After the opening ceremony, it is announced  to appoint academician Chen Chun as the director of the expert committee of joint innovation laboratory, and then he accepted the appointment certificate on the scene.

    Later, academician Chen Chun spoke highly of the establishment of the joint laboratory. He said that the establishment of the laboratory would speed up the integration of the online reality scene with the technological advantages of Zhejiang University, which will be greatly significant to both sides. China mobile online service is one of the top online service companies in China, with a typical super large scale information system application scene. Also, the team of Zhejiang University has accumulated rich technical foundation and practical experience in the deep cooperation with State Street Corp, Alibaba and so on. He is looking forward to the cooperation achievements of joint innovation laboratory.

In the end, all the guests who attended the opening ceremony took a group photo and held the first meeting of the expert committee to discuss the development direction, technical route and the progress of the laboratory in depth.
